CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES ANNUAL PHOENIX BALL TO BE HELD JUNE 3, 2023

Lebanon, Tennessee - Cumberland University announced today that the 39th Annual Phoenix Ball will be held on June 3, 2023.

The Chairs for this year’s event, Brad and Tasha Irby, have already been working for months, along with members of the Phoenix Ball Planning Committee, to plan the annual gala. The Irby’s have chosen "Black and White" as the decorating theme for this year which directly ties to the traditional black tie elegance of the Phoenix Ball.

The university is also very pleased to announce the presenting sponsor for this year’s Phoenix Ball is Hunt Brothers Pizza.

"Scott Hunt, the CEO of Hunt Brothers Pizza, and his wife Patricia have been loyal supporters of the Phoenix Ball the past few years and we are so very grateful for their extremely generous commitment to this year’s event," said Cumberland University President Dr. Paul C. Stumb.

As in the past, all net proceeds from the Phoenix Ball will be used to fund scholarships for deserving Cumberland University students. In addition to these general Phoenix Ball scholarships, the Planning Committee members have elected to honor the memory of Al Ashworth and Dallas Whitfield, two photographers who played prominent roles in many of the past Phoenix Balls. This is the first year memorial scholarships will be established in both of their names.
